For David Ross, creator of The Engagement Ring Secrets, the passion to help men and women “level the playing field” with the diamond industry began with a visit to DeBeer’s Premiere Mine just outside of Johannesburg.  At the time, David was working on a major development project for a large international bank and the South African government but he wanted to visit one of the diamond mines for himself.

Such visits are exceedingly rare to the Premiere Mine but through persistence and a few well-placed connections, David was able to secure a detailed tour of the entire facility. 

In that mine, David found a 3+ carat diamond and when he asked his tour guide how much it was worth in its raw, uncut form he was astounded to hear “$3”.

Unfortunately, DeBeers didn’t let David leave with his $3 diamond but he was absolutely amazed how a $3 “rock” in Africa could be sold for $5,000, $10,000, or even $100,000 by the time it reached a jewelry store.  

After telling friends about his “$3” diamond from the mine, one asked David to help him buy an engagement ring straight out of Africa “on the cheap”. David eagerly took up the challenge and helped his friend through every step of the process to secure an engagement for 99% LESS than he would have paid in the United States.
